January[]

  • 2: The second round of the Palmer Raids begins. The BOI (precursor to the FBI) arrests over 3,000 leftist immigrants across 30 cities and towns in 23 states of the USA. Civil liberties advocates in the US are outraged, and the ACLU is later formed from the anger over the Palmer Raids.

March[]

  • Unknown date: The "revolutionary socialist" city government of Torzhk, Russia renames “Pyatnitskaya street” to “Bakunin Street” in honour of Mikhail Bakunin.[1]

April[]

  • 14: The Italian Anarchist Communist Union is founded in Florence, Italy after a meeting of 200 delegates.[2]

May[]

  • 2: Gustav Landauer is murdered by right-wing paramilitaries in Munich, Germany while being taken to prison. He was 49 years old.[3]

July[]

  • 17: Anarchist and CNT member Pau Sabater is murdered by police in Barcelona, Spain. He was 35 years old.[4]

September[]

  • 19: Black Guard leader Maria Nikiforova is executed by a White Army firing squad in Sevastopol, Russia. She was at least 33 years old.[5]
  • September 22: Anarchists bomb the Moscow Committee of the Russian Communist Party to protest the repression of anarchists by Bolsheviks. 12 people are killed and 55 are injured.[6]

October[]

  • 16: Sasha Feldman is assassinated by an unknown person in Odessa, Ukraine. His age is unknown.[7]

November[]

  • 8: Makhnovists carry out the Eichenfeld massacre, in which they kill many German Mennonite colonists in Ukraine and rape surviving wives and daughters. 136 people are killed.[8]
